“In all of living, have much fun and laughter.
Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.”

At our house, it's soap in the mouth for not telling the truth. And here's the boy's last night.
It wasn't a big lie. When asked if they had washed while in the shower, they both said they did. When asked again, they said yes, even though the soap was pretty much out of reach. When asked how they got the soap, they said that the taller of the two was able to reach it, they washed, and then put it back. Now me, being a lover of clean, fresh smelling babes, could not smell my favorite aroma of Johnson & Joshnson wash. And then the guilt set in and they fessed up that they had NOT, in fact, washed.
Pretty minor infraction. But nonetheless, I still had to follow through with the consequences.
I know this all too well from my own childhood, that not following through with your "or else's" makes for a lot of eye rolling and disrespect. My dad is the KING of making threats and NEVER following through. Although, its hard to follow through on "You think you're crying now? When I'm through with you, you won't be able to STOP crying!", or "Cut the crap or I'll knock you upside the head so hard you won't ever walk straight!".... there's more, but I don't want to paint my wonderful dad as a scary, angry, verbally abusive father. He's definatly not. He did have EIGHT kids though, which would make any parent a little "testy" and always at their wits end. :)
Well, here's is child #3, after she followed my around the house and requested to have some soap like her brothers. I said OK and was prepared for the tears and gagging. I got none. Just smiles and giggles. I asked her if it tasted good and she said "yep!" I asked her if she like eating soap and she said "yep!". I guess I need to rethink my consequence for fibbing. What to do......?
