Can you believe Christmas is over for another year? Wow. That was fast. And again, as with every Christmas, I regret the time I spent stressing and fretting over gifts and what to do for everyone, and NOT enough time spent on having fun with my family, friends and enjoying the real reason we celebrate this time of year.

SO, on the top of my resolution list is..."a better Christmas 2009." And I'm starting early. I have marked my new calendar, starting in July with things I need to get done each month, like teacher and visiting teacher gifts, getting out and buying ingredients for recipes that I want to try and make with my kids, and making sure I schedule some time in for Temple Square, maybe a Christmas play and some time with the kids going sledding. (I'll sit in the car with my hot chocolate while Josh takes them! :)

Ultimately, I would like it if I didn't have to go to the store 1 time in December for a gift. Wouldn't it be nice if the whole month or December felt "Christmas-y"? I'm sure that is why I feel like Christmas comes and goes so fast every year...because by the time I get things done...it's pretty much over. !!!

However, we did have a good Christmas. I love this time in our family where the kids are SO very excited about everything they get.

SO excited in fact, I could have saved myself some money and stocked up on $.99 silly putty!

I will preach loud and clear people....until your kids reach 4-5ish...they don't really care how big or how grand the gifts are. They actually do like the small, cheap stuff. I was so excited to get Belle some Disney Princess dolls...all 8 of them in fact. She also scored a set of my little ponies. And I haven't seen her carry around 1 since she opened them! She has carried around and slept with her little pink egg full of silly putty since Christmas day. "What the heck?"

Here's to next year.....

I couldn't agree with you more, Christmas needs to not be so stressful and all about the perfect gifts every year! after a day most kids don't even care about that expensive gift you bought them! I could just give Dax a candy bar and he would be thrilled! Your kids look ADORABLE in there xmas PJ's! They are just too dang cute.

Thanks SOOOOO much for coming up to see me the other day!! It meant the world to Casey and I. We love you guys and are soo grateful for your friendship! Come visit me and hold Madden anytime you aren't busy. Love ya Meg!

You are so right. My resolution for next year is to have all of Christmas bought AND wrapped before Thanksgiving. And I've marked my calendar for Christmas cards in July, next year they will get done. I totally slacked off this year :)!!
